Our Story
The Gade Farm is a family farm that has been in continuous operation since 1878 when it was purchased by Peter and Mary Gade. As the family grew, so did the farm. Three of Peter and Mary's boys, Frank, John, and George ran the farm together planting a variety of vegetables and bringing them to the Menand's Market.
In 1967, in its third generation, Jack Gade started wholesaling plants and he and his wife Louise opened up a retail greenhouse in 1970.
Since then, the 4th generation of Gades, including current owners Jim and John, have expanded into a full service garden center where we sell a wide variety of annuals, vegetables, herbs, perennials, roses, shrubs, trees, and gardening supplies.
In 1992, we built our Farm Stand, where we offer our own freshly harvested produce as well as offer many other locally produced meats, cheeses, sauces, jams, and crafts. Since adding our Bakery in 2009, we have been making our own Cider Donuts and fresh fudge, as well as offering other locally made pies, breads, and baked goods.
Now as the 5th generation prepares to enter the business we continue to live out our slogan, "We're growing for you..." We strive to provide our customers and community with a source of high quality homegrown produce and plants, as well as gardening supplies and locally made goods. Our goal is to provide exceptional customer service and share our knowledge and expertise with our customers so that they will be successful and loyal. We believe that maintaining a strong interest and commitment to our employees, customers, and community and being responsible stewards of the land our vital to our success.
